Linux Mint 13 (code name Maya) has been published to download. This linux distro is based on Ubuntu 12.04. But it has some more application and features then ubuntu. According to LinuxMint blog this version available in two flavor. Two new desktop environment give this some extra user-friendly essence.

LinuxMint 13 Maya Cinnamon desktop environment

You know Ubuntu many of us do not like Ubuntus new DE Unity. For this reason LinuxMint introduce Mate and Cinnamon desktop. Mate is now stable and mature and the version is 1.2. Cinnamon is still under develop, but you can use it with no problem. Both DE are alternative of Gnome 2 DE. So existing Gnome user wont feel difference to use these LinuxMint 13 (Maya) flavor.

Remember that Linux Mint 13 is also an LTS (Long Term Support) release and it will be supported until April 2017.
